Trackback in Movable Type
January 29th, 2004
I've just been reading up about Trackback, to find out what it's all about and to find out how I get a list of "pings" for each entry in this weblog.
There are lots of good pages out there about Trackback, including:
www.movabletype.org/trackback/beginners/
and:
www.movabletype.org/docs/mtmanual_trackback.html
However, it's not until you get near the bottom of the latter page that you read: "run mt-check.cgi to determine whether you have LWP::UserAgent installed. That module is required to use TrackBack".
That should be in big red type, somewhere up the top of each article. Trackback doesn't work for me and I'm pretty sure this is why. I'm on my lunch break at work right now, so I can't test the theory. When I get home I'll check this.
Unfortunately, my ISP is not cooperative when it comes to installing Perl modules. I really have to change my ISP, but changing ISPs is a bit like changing banks. One of these days I'll get round to it.
